The Tigard-Tualatin School District has ended their search for a new director of coordinated education services, a high-ranking position within the district’s administration.
Hillsboro High School Principal Sloan Presidio accepted the position, where he will be responsible for overseeing programs for middle and high schoolers, English language learners, talented and gifted students and Title I reading, math and writing.
“It has been my great honor and pleasure to have served as Hilhi’s principal for the past four years,” Presidio wrote in a letter sent home to families, Wednesday.
Presidio said that his new position fits with his long-term goal of setting and executing district level educational policy.
“I will miss working with all of you, but am sure that whoever is chosen as my successor will continue the great things we have done,” he wrote. “Thank you for your support over these past four years; I will always carry Spartan pride in my heart.”
Presidio fills the vacancy left by Petrea Hagen-Gilden who announced that she will be retiring at the end of the school year.
Serving as Hillsboro’s principal since 2006, Presidio briefly practiced law before returning to education in 2005. He also spent seven years in the Eugene School District as a high school administrator, technology teacher and principal of an alternative school. He has also taught elementary school in California and Alaska.
Presidio’s first day of work is July 1.
